Welcome to the Sompting Beer Festival!

Once again, in the Beer Tent, Chris Moon and his team will be bringing along the finest selection of real ales to enjoy.

The Beer & Real Ale Festival kicks off on Friday 4 June 2010 at 6.00pm for the evening, then recommences at 10.00am on Saturday, and noon on Sunday.

The Sompting Festival is one of the best places to enjoy a real ale Beer Festival in Sussex. There is so much else going on in one single venue to compliment the finest of beers, with the live music of the Music Festival in the marquee, as well as all the other activities of the Village Fair. So just come along, relax and enjoy....

TASTING NOTES (Subject to availability)
Brentwood Spooky Moon (3.8%)
A dark brown bitter, with a sweet fruity finish, which is balanced with just the right level of bitterness to make this the perfect session ale.

Castle Rock Screech Owl (5.5%)
Brewed to export strength this strong well-hopped Indian Pale ale has become a firm favourite.

Copper Dragon Golden Pippin (3.9%)
A light refreshing blonde ale brewed using Maris Otter Malt and a new variety of hop, creating a citrus fruit flavour.

Houston Blonde Bombshell (4.0%)
This gold coloured ale is smooth and easy drinking with a fresh hop aroma, well rounded maltiness and a delicate fruit aftertaste.

Lymestone Stone the Crows (5.4%)
A rich red to black beer carefully crafted from the finest crystal and chocolate malts. Chewy juicy fruit flavours give way to a deep lingering bitterness provided by an abundance of Styrian Goldings, Millenium and Nugget hops.

O'Hanlons Yellowhammer (4.5%)
The golden ale that's so flavour packed it's… bursting. A predominant hop and fruit nose leads to a dry bitter finish.

Phoenix Hopsack (3.8%)
Light drinking session beer. Very hoppy.

RCH Double Header (5.3%)
A golden brew made only with pale ale malt and Goldings hops giving it a well balanced hoppy flavour. Very drinkable – beware!!

Salamander Golden Salamander (4.5%)
A golden coloured premium ale. Brewed with Challenger and Styrian Goldings hops this beer has an assertive hop bitterness.

Three B's Stokers Slake Mild (3.6%)
A traditional dark mild with roast malt aromas and creamy chocolate notes.

Tirril Old Faithful (4.0%)
The lightest and fruitiest of Tirril's range. Pale golden, aromatic and well hopped, anideal summer ale. Named after Charles Gough's dog. Gough lost his way travelling to the Quaker meeting house in Grasmere and fell from the notrious Striding Edge. His remains were found months later, only identified by the name in his hat. Amazingly his faithful hound still stood guard over his body. Both Wordsworth and Keats wrote poems about the event. His few remains are buried in the Quaker graveyard in Tirril. Hence he is the only one of our characters still resident in the village.
